New Technologies of the 2010s E-mail

The first decade of the 21st century saw an unprecedented wave of  technological advances that changed the way we functioned as a society.

Smart phones such as the iPhone have turned cell phones into miniature PCs capable of sending text messages, taking photos, checking the weather, and listening to music. Search engines such as Google have changed the way we search for information. Social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter have made it possible to constantly update family and friends.

As we enter into the decade of the 2010s, technology will continue to change at a rapid pace. As technology continues to become more sophisticated, it will have a greater impact in our everyday lives.

Here are some of those changes you can expect in the next ten years:

  • Our digital devices, from laptops to phones, will be connected to “a cloud,” or networks of computers that remotely perform services for us. This cloud will keep a record of one's every move on the internet, creating an archive a user can access at any time.
  • elevision programming, advertising, and news will be personalized for consumers based on their past activities.
  • Television will become widely available on mobile devices and computers.
  • Devices like smart phones will allow us to get more information about unfamiliar surroundings and new people instantaneously.
  • Multi-touch displays like those seen on the iPhone will become commonplace on computers. They will also appear on other surfaces such as dashboards and countertops.
  • Virtual 3-D technology will allow us to visit different cities and interact with our friends without living the house.
  • Robots will become more of a fixture in the American household. Programmable droids will have the ability to help around the house and complete chores such as vacuuming and stocking groceries.
  • Consumers will be able to get a complete map of their genetic makeup for $1,000, allowing doctors to address illnesses that patients are genetically predisposed to.
  • Telephones will be able to display emails and other digital media as well as have speech recognition technology seen in GPS systems generally found in modern automobiles.
  • Books and newspapers will increasingly be displayed using tablet PCs.
  • Speech and handwriting recognition software will become widely available.
  • Social networking sites will be able to update your friends and families on your location and activities as the sites become more connected to mobile devices, especially those with GPS hardware.
  • Software will become widely available over the Internet.
